Calibration, inversion, and validation of models in earth system science

January 18, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Rackham Building, Earl Lewis Room, 3rd Floor East

Models play an important role across a variety of disciplines and are an integral part of scientific investigations and predictions in earth system science. I will discuss the main principles and methods available for the calibration and inversion of models from a Bayesian perspective. Interested participants will have the opportunity to implement the methods with one or more open source models. The workshop will also discuss the best practices in model validation.
