Summary of Services:
Advanced Research Computing (ARC), a division of ITS, offers scientific computing and research consulting services to help implement machine learning and data driven workflows within their projects.
These services include expert guidance on data science projects, identifying proper tools, and programming in support of implementing advanced data analytics, machine learning models, and computational techniques to enhance research projects. This service is not for general guidance on use of HPC resources ARC provides.
Clark Library Geospatial and Data Mapping
Email: [email protected]
Summary of Services:
The Stephen S. Clark Library for Maps, Government Information, and Data at the University of Michigan is located on the 2nd floor of the Hatcher Graduate Library. We offer assistance to faculty, staff, and students in finding and using government-produced data, as well as data from other sources, and provide support for GIS and data visualization. We provide assistance in learning to create maps and visualizations, but we do not provide production services to create them on your behalf. Make an appointment to meet with one of our librarians for assistance with using and troubleshooting GIS tools, finding geospatial data, finding, acquiring, and using data produced by government agencies and others, and best practices in data visualization. One of the ways that we acquire data for researchers is through our Library Data Grant Program.

Statistics Online Computational Resource (SOCR)
Contact: Ivo Dinov
Email: [email protected]
Summary of Services:
The Statistics Online Computational Resource (SOCR) provides a wide range of statistical, informatics, computing, analytic and AI consulting services. Consultants include SOCR faculty, research staff and students. Consulting services are offered to academic trainees, scholars, centers and institutes, state and government organizations, industry partners, and non-profit entities. We have mechanisms to provide percent-effort commitments of faculty, research staff, as well as students (GSRA). Typically, these involve longer agreements, but we may provide some shorter and pro bono consults, as necessary.
Example of SOCR consulting services include:
- Research study design
- Biostatistical (e.g., statistical-power, parametric/non-parametric tests, statistical analyses)
- Data science (e.g., exploratory data analytics, visualization, ML/AI, statistical forecasting, computational prediction, math modeling)
- Data management
- Foundational and generative AI modeling (GAIM)
- Informatics (e.g., biomedical, health, clinical, analytics)
- Other (see the SOCR Research Projects)
